Ruger lever action .44

Recommended Posts

So guys, I picked up one of these several months ago - maybe a year ago. I really enjoyed firing it and the lever action felt so natural though I had never fired one before. It was only about $400 AS i recall.

My only issue is, and I think it's been discussed, the stupid Ruger box mags. It only holds 4 stinking bullets. Even though it was modeled after the Winchester 94 it doesnt have the tube.

A new magazine is like $35 so I would consider paying $50 or $60 is someone could manufacture, say, a ten round mag.

Anyone have a buddy who is capable of this?

Is it this gun?  That's a straight up 10/22!  Funny.

Ewww...rotary mags.  Who thought that was a good idea?  I found several threads on various forums about people trying to mate Desert Eagle mags with the rotary mags.  No one seems to have made anything commercial.  Yet lots of people make 10/22 mags which are just smaller versions!

Thats the one.

I thought the same thing too. Surely someone produces one but couldnt find anything anywhere.

Maybe some of you guys with Armorer friends or who are Armorers (Y) might know anything.

Anyway, thanks for looking.

Lots of work would go into that I think, since the there is a lot of difference in the placement of components. To start with, a mag loaded gun won't have a carrier, and you'd have to start from scratch with primary and secondary shell latches. I'm sure it would be possible to figure the mechanism to time the latches, allow the round onto the carrier, and fashion a dog to raise the carrier in line with the chamber; it would be like a pet project though, not really something for sale.
