Cheap AR

Recommended Posts

What is a brand of AR that is cheap ($500 or so). I know the cheap brands jam alot and you get what you pay for and all, but I am not going into combat and NOT planning any going on a shooting spree :thnks: .

one you make, a kit for $450, and a stripes lower for $100. it would get you close.

probably that one with the wooden receiver someone posted earlier...

you have got to admit it would make a cool wall hanger.

Build your own. You can pick any kind of kit you want and build it cheap..

Ok, AR stripped receivers: are they pretty universal? If I want to build an M4 style AR, does it take the same receiver that an M16 style AR would? Or is it proprietary to they styling? Going to the Overland Park, KS gun show tomorrow...think i'll buy a stripped lower!

Just buy a regular AR lower such as RRA, Bushmaster or any other brand... other than colt. But try to get forged not cast. They will run you atleast 100 bucks.

The M4 and M16 are the same rifle except for barrel and stock (and fire control, which you won't have to worry about.) Any AR lower is the same design, but some have different tolerances causing a looser or tighter fitting AR. As with other areas, tighter is better.

yep get you a cast lower and a kit from Model1sales and make yourself a beater. I have seen some cast lovers go for 80.00 thats not bad for one to abuse. :c)l:

$599 is MSRP, $499 is probably what it would be at a gun shop.

Settle down little feller, MSRP is just some whacked out number the manufacturer comes up with. MSRP and actual retail price have very little to do with each other.

Here are some of my recent purchases:

Ruger P95 MSRP (from website) $425- mine was $299 at Vance's Shooting Supplies in Columbus, Ohio.

Ruger P512 MSRP (from website) $290- mine was $199 at Vance's

Taurus Model 650 SS (from website) $430- mine was $269 at Vance's
