LGF Comes Out of The Closet

As the once popular blog LGF self-destructs, the blog admin Charles finally admits his political ideology.

I used to try to fight against the characterization that LGF was a “right wing” blog. Eventually, I gave up because it was pointless; I realized they were going to put me in that pigeonhole no matter what I wrote.

Now a lot of people seem to feel betrayed and angry because they made assumptions about my views on issues such as creationism, gay rights, abortion, etc. etc.

I tried to tell them, but they just didn’t want to listen.

I can only be honest about my opinions. If that means I need to be excommunicated from the “right wing,” I’m fine with that.

Because I never joined.

It appears that the LGF blog has become a den of Christian bigots. LGF posts and comments seem to endorse gay marriage/abortion rights while protecting President Obama from any Republican criticism regarding his policies, views, or gaffes.

Taking on militant Islam when it was not politically correct propelled LGF in popularity. Now it appears that it was due to all the ‘paranoid bigots’ out there feasting on classical liberalism. I just throw up in my mouth a little at that delusion.

Another point: I haven’t changed my position against Islamic fascism one bit. I still believe it’s a threat to Western civilization, profoundly anti-democratic, and needs to be fought.

However, I have learned (to my dismay) that many of the people who portray themselves as “anti-jihad” are simply paranoid bigots, and/or religious fanatics with hidden motives, who have hitched a ride on the justifiable outrage most of us felt after the 9/11 attacks.

My objections to radical Islam are based on my commitment to classical liberalism, and the values of the Enlightenment.

And my love for the music of Frank Zappa.

Surely, people can disagree with the lockstep ideology at LGF? Uh, that would be a no as evidenced by the plethora of old members being banned.

Bye now! Farewell comment deleted.

Sad. LGF has jumped the shark with a tremendous self important splat.

Oh, and traffic appears to be dropping.

  1. No Name, Please Says:

I have just come across this “LGF mystery.” LGF was an interesting blog in its anti-jihadi heyday, but something happened, maybe around the time Pajamas Media was formed (?). Charles was initially invited, but he never joined Pajamas. Whether he withdrew, or was not further invited, I could only guess. But suddenly Creationism became the big thing at LGF, followed by other “issues” such as Ron Paul, Glenn Beck, the Tea Parties, etc, and it seemed to shed light on Charles Johnson’s personality. He picks enemies and does his best to destroy them with laserlike intensity.

He doesn’t strike me as a Christian bigot at all. More as your standard-issue extreme leftie.

As to why he spends days posting about Ron Paul, and not Lyndon Larouche, I have no idea. His current thing is making explanations for ACORN, and I can’t see a Christian bigot doing that.
