San Francisco Supports Kerry’s Military Comments

In a rare peek into the minds of San Francisco citizens, the San Francisco Gate newspaper interviewed average citizens about their impression of Sen. Kerry’s (D-MA) derogatory comments about US military members.

You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”Sen. John Kerry

Examples: Should Kerry apologize?

1) Vernon Burton, San Leandro

For what? Telling the truth? If a few more so-called leaders started telling the truth about Iraq, maybe we could save some of those lives that are being thrown away for nothing.

2) Amy Altschul, Oakland

Why should a person apologize for telling the truth? The truth is, for those who are not educated, the military is one of their only outlets. This does not mean the people are stupid, it means they are uneducated. Their lack of education often means the military, which currently means Iraq.

3) Miriam Rosenau, Berkeley

No way. Since when are you supposed to apologize for telling the truth?

The truth of the matter is that US military members are more educated when compared to their peer group in the civilian world — but that fact does not sink into the liberal anti-military mindset.

Academic Background of US military members:

— 49.2 percent of officers have advanced or professional degrees; 39.4 percent have master’s degrees, 8.5 percent have professional degrees and 1.3 percent have doctorate degrees.

— 22.8 percent of company grade officers have advanced degrees; 16.5 percent have master’s degrees, 5.9 percent have professional degrees and 0.3 percent have doctorate degrees.

— 85.4 percent of field grade officers have advanced degrees; 70.7 percent have master’s degrees, 12.1 percent have professional degrees and 2.5 percent have doctorate degrees.

— 99.9 percent of the enlisted force have at least a high school education; 73.3 percent have some semester hours toward a college degree; 16.2 percent have an associate’s degree or equivalent semester hours; 4.7 percent have a bachelor’s degree; 0.7 percent have a master’s degree and .01 percent have a professional or doctorate degree.

    Are Republicans STILL trying to spin Kerry’s comments as anti-military?! Sorry guys, truth’s been out for quite a while and your attempt are, as usual, pathetic and immoral.

  2. Team Admin Says:

    @Rigits

    Tell that to RONALD R. GRIFFIN who lost his son in Iraq. He states,” I know exactly what came out of Sen. John Kerry’s mouth, and in those words there is no interpretation required. His attempt to convince us–and, I believe, to convince himself that that there was really a botched joke buried deep within his insult is in fact a reaffirmation of his ever-present condescending nature. He actually believes that we are stupid enough to agree with him and start laughing simply because he said it was a joke. Mr. Kerry said exactly what he meant and meant exactly what he said. ”
