The recent intifada of North African Muslim youths (aged 10 to 25) rioting in Parisian suburbs demonstrates that native born French are incapable of defending their own country.

There has been 11 nights of ‘civil war’ in France since 27 October 2005. The riots have include the burning of 3,300 cars, schools, strip malls, homes, ambulances, and government buildings. There has been an arson attack on a Jewish synagogue and an attack on a disabled woman on a bus leaving her with 3rd degree burns. Shots have been fired at police and projectiles hurled at rescue personal.

Violence Spreading

Attacks are spreading to other French regions. Last night, arsonists hit Aulnay-sous-Bois, Corbeil-Essonnes, Avignon, Nice, Cannes, Meaux, Grigny, Essone, Acheres, and Drancy. Even the heart of Paris is not immune, Place de la Republique was also struck with a petrol bomb.

In Torcy, close to Disneyland Paris, a youth center and a police station were set ablaze. In Suresnes, on the Seine River west of the capital, 44 cars were burned in a parking lot.

The American Embassy has issued a warning to American tourists to avoid these areas of unrest.

French Government Response

The French response to this civil war has been anemic. Calls for calm by President Jacques Chirac have largely been ignored.

Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin has had a dialogue with community leaders, youngsters , local officials, and the head of the Paris mosque, Dalil Boubakeur.

The Islamic leader warned the French leader – “What I want from the authorities, from Mr Nicolas Sarkozy, the prime minister and senior officials are words of peace,” he said.

Bizarrely, it appears the French are blaming Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy for the crisis. Sarkozy is accused of agitating the Muslim youths by calling the troublemakers “scum”. Sarkozy has ignored calls to resign.

Who is Responsible for the Mayhem?

This should be obvious to everyone. It is the very people who attack the police and set the fires. It is not racism, it is not unemployment, nor even any other socialist excuse the French can think of.

Police found a gasoline bomb-making factory in a southern suburb of the city, with more than 100 bottles, gallons of fuel and hoods for hiding rioters’ faces, a senior Justice Ministry official said Sunday. … The discovery, Huet said, shows that gasoline bombs being used by rioters “are not being improvised by kids in their bathrooms.”

Many immigrant Muslims chose to move to France and then refused to assimilate into French culture. They set up a myriad of balkanized enclaves where they refused to adopt French customs, traditions, language, and most importantly — French law. They are establishing a separate state within France akin to the situation that plagues the Israeli’s and the Palestinians.

These young Muslims apparently don’t care about respecting religious days of rest such as the Sabbath. They are also rioting during Rammadan and feel that synagogues in Pierrefitte are worthy targets for arson.

And when the media tells you that these are not hate crimes, ask them then why the rioters targeted churches like the ones they burned in Sete and Lens.

Now, the rioters have now begun to shoot at police. About thirty police officers were wounded Sunday evening in Grigny (the Essonne), including two seriously.

The French Response

There has been no effective leadership in France in this crisis. The French government has failed to adopt a hard line with the rioters and allows the ‘civil war’ continue for more than 11 days without an end in sight. The reason is possibly a French trait of surrender. It has happened several times in the past 100 years with other invading armies.

Now the police force fears that the rioters will use grenades and heavy weapons.

Police officers, exhausted and dispirited after 11 nights of street battles, say their mainly young African and Arab adversaries have access to sophisticated weapons including grenades and could soon begin using them.

Why are there no curfews? Why is there no martial law in the rioting regions? Civil order needs to be restored quickly otherwise other radicals will see this as a sign of French weakness and they will be even more outrageous in there attacks.

What is most disturbing is the failure of the French to criticize that actions of the rioters and to sympathize with their situation. This is exactly what the Vichy French government did with the Nazi’s. I guess history repeats itself.
