I'm not sure that is a correct statement. If your using it for defense I think you better double check and make sure it's loaded as asuming it is loaded could get you into trouble in a defense situation.

My parents would kill me if they found that I had a loaded gun in the house. My ammo is locked up.

yeah, i personally dont keep either my 10/22 or my Yugo loaded, though the ammo is very readily available. No kids live in my house, and I dont worry about my parents toying with them while im gone. I really need to get a cabinet for them however...

I've just got the Derringer by the bedside, two rounds in it but the chamber is open...soon, my USP will be sleeping quietly next to me. But she'll be noisy if she's awakened by some intruder!

the AT-9 is a civilian semi-automatic subgun chambered in 9mm parabellum, with 25 round detachable box mags, padle mag relese, with a barel shroud, a pistol grip and a colapsable stock manufactured by Feather industries in .22lr and 9mm chamberings ( the AT-22, and AT-9 respectively...) they retailed for $329.90 direct from Feather industries before the 1994 ban.

i dont think Feather industries is buisness anymore..

i keep a Parker Stanless steel .45 under my pillow at night. loadd mag in it, but nothing in the chamber, and hammer un-cocked.

This has been sorta' interesting.

No kids here, so the handy handguns are all loaded fully and with safety off. If I can lay my hand on a gun and pull the trigger it will go off.

Just added a pistol grip Mossberg 500 12-gauge to the collection. It will have the magazine loaded, safety off, but none in the chamber. I want someone coming in to hear that loading sound. Of course they will hear the six dogs first.

I keep loaded handguns in the house. A few, however in a couple years, possibly sooner I will not be able to. As the little one grows it is going to become impossible to keep a loaded firearm out of his reach. Ideally, I would like to have guns loaded, ready to go around the house.

I only wish that I could...

They were out of business for a while but they are back. http://www.featherusa.com In my opinion they make some of the best guns around.

Actually, my At-9 is quite old, and doesn't have a padle mag release it has a push style release. Here's a picture.

PS: I am aware of the irony of owning a 9mm which is in contrast to my signature.

I keep one weapon loaded at all times.

I'm single with no kids.

My residence has been broken into multiple times before I moved in.

I'm lucky. I live sorta' in the Boonies. Well off the main road but with neighbors who might see someone prowling around in the distance. Someone is almost always here and my wife is about as good a shot as I am and has a background in criminal justice.

If some perp makes it through the six dogs and my 12 gauge and Beretta, they still have to deal with my wife's S&W 10-5. I wonder if the poor guy would even be recognizable?

I keep every gun i have loaded at all times. I take a different one to bed with me each night and the other ones in my safe. That way they dont get lonely.

Seriously though, an empty gun makes a very poor hammer and if i am to choose self defence i will be prepared the instant necessity requires. I dont want to fumble around looking for magazines or speedloaders half asleep when the purp is very much awake and in my house.

That all said, i dont have any young'uns runnin round to worry 'bout, and if i did i would probably still keep one under my pillow B{

I don't live in a "big bad city" either, but I do realize that crime doesn't care where you live, it can find you, if it doesn't considder yourself lucky, if it does, I hope you are prepared for it.

I have to answer no to this question for now, as I'm still living in my parents house (saving money for a GOOD place of my own, not some trashy apartment) and they asked that I keep my gun unloaded and locked up, and I respect their request, as they still allow me to keep it in the house.

Once I do get my own place, I will keep my loaded gun near me (in a lockbox/safe) for home and personal protection. I understand if someone brakes into my home, I will call the police from my cell phone, grab my firearm, my family, and flee the house and wait for the police. if I do not have to confront a badguy, I won't, but if they try to attack me or my family while I'm trying to get away, I want to be prepared.

1911 mag loaded, chamber empty. With grandkids around by the time they are physically able to pull the slide back they have been taught not to.
