The AT missiles are usaully wire guided, so that string that you see it actually the control wire. I know it sounds stupid, and most people don't believe it because they think why no just use a radio, but it works, it can't be jammed, and there is no need to screw with it.

Very cool videos...but I think both of those would bounce off an Abrams:)

does the cord just cut off from the weapon or do they leave it? what happens if its going far away and the cord sticks around a tree??

The AT-4 is not guided. Aim the thing and let fly.

Javelin is fire and forget, look ma, no wires.

Really? I know that a lot of AT rockets are wire guided.

As the the question about the wire. They just leave it since most of the bazooka tubes are actually thrown away after use. And if the wire gets cut, your scrwed.

I don’t think the M1 Abrams would survived a hit from an Bill 2 .

They have been testing fire the Bill 2 on an Leopard II IMP (latest version off the leo II) and the tank where destroyed

The M1 tank have no protection against missile that attack the top off the tank

But I can be wrong :-) I am nott an specialist on the Abrams Tank but if the missile can kill an Leopard II IMP then I think it can kill an Abrams

AT4 (Pskott86) have an wire on it but not for steering its is for activate the missile after 30m the wire fall off .

And TOW don’t use overfly top attack principle. Sweden hade abute 500 Tow (Rbs 55)

But we sold them al to Latvia for 100 US dollar each

Good deal for Latvia and an weary bad deal for Sweden :-:

jaredshearer

The TOW is an old weapon system and I am glad that we have sold them al to the poor Latvian army.

it is heavy and there where allot off problem with the system in the Swedish winter

But if you want an Tow go to an military scrapyeard in Sweden then you can find one or you can find an Hawk missile if you lucky D>

i beleve that the TOW, and TOW2 were both direct contact, and that the TOW2B detanats above the target, fireing a penatrator.

the Javilin pops up and contacts the top of the target.

as far as the TOW goes, when you refer to the TOW missle, that is all you are talking about. the lanch system is no longer the one i posted above.

I cant find the Javelin video, but there is a video of Javelin hitting a T-72. The tank is pounded flat. The engine is thrown 62meters away from the original vehicle location.

Javelin doesnt just pop up. It heads way up as soon as the main motor kicks in. Then it DIVES into its target from very high altitude.

I don't think that you can compare the armor of a German Leo and and American Abrams. The Leo is 55 tons and our tanks are almost 70. the M1 has that depleted uranium, steel incased armor, not just the steel that the germans have. I heard that in GW I and Iraqi t-72 took a shoot at 1000 yds at an M1 (this is close range for a tank) and right into the weakest part of the Armor, and yet the entire crew survived, the gun and radio still worked and the engine cranked, though it did not start. But most imporatantly, the whole crew survived and the tank was repaired. remember too, the t-72 has the really mean 125 MM cannon.

I where talking abut the Leopard 2A6 IMP (Improved) and not the old Lepard 2 and its 6120 kg.

The German Leopard IMP have been heavely modefied by Bofors with more armore and a new sight

And Abrams are still using the old L44 gun Leopard 2 IMP use the new

L55 Rheinmetall. Abrams are going to receive the same cannon, but not for several years

But the Abrams M1 is an damn good tank .we have one the army base

the 125mm is smoothbore..its powerful, but very inaccurate..especially on the move...whereas the M1 performs well firing at targets while cruising. T72s need to get in close to do combat vs M1s
