I Voted '91/39 because i have 2. Both Tula's on antique receivers. 1897 Tula/Sako '41 and a 1896 Tula/SK Y '42. Both from WGA.

I also have a Izhesvk 1935 ROUND receivered 91/30 that is beautiful. Going to a gushow this Sat. and will be coming home with more i suppose!

Ohhh! I think you meant M38/M44, Mine are Finn M39's long guns not carbines.

Just busting your chops...

I always screw up something in my posts...

And i think you are right. I have been collecting Mosins for over a year now & I have never met a collector that fancies just one type of mosin. They all seem to be liked.

I only have an M44 carbine at the moment but hopefully soon I will have 91/30 and an M38 also. I want as many of them as I can get, They are really nice guns.

Watch out it is addicting. I started off with just an M44.

Now I have 2 M91s, 6 91/30s, 1 M39, 1 m38, 1 m44, and 2 91/59s.

And a lot more to follow.

I only have an M38. The same vendor also had M44's and 91/30's at the same price.

I chose the M38 because I wanted something short/light as a brush gun capable of protecting me from anything from dogs up through black bear, or could be used for closer range deer hunting. So the 91/30 was out.

Between the M38 and M44, it was a matter of weight. That, and I didn't really need or want the bayo.

I'm very happy with my decision. I love it. But I still want a 91/30 now.

Another thing to check out might be the Finnish M39s. They are supposed to be the best made and most accurate of all the MNs. A friend of mine got one a few months ago and its really a nice gun.

I have one on order from Wholesale Guns & Ammo. I was hoping to get it by Christmas but its not looking like that'll happen. I posted asking about the guns and the dealer and got some pretty positive responses. Just a thought.

I have yet to get any of the carbines but yes, a 91/30 is a great gun and even better is the Fin M39. The wood, workmanship and feel of a true military bolt action. Some of them have incredable striping in the wood!

I have:

2- 91/30s, both made in 1936 at Izhevsk (1 refinished by me, the other not sure)

1- M44, dated 1945(refinished by me)

1- M38 dated 1942(got as a Christmas gift, all matching ser #s & in excellent condition)

1- M1895 revolver dated 1944, ex. cond.

Still looking for a cheap 91/30 bayonet to add to collection. I have a WW2 Russian helmet, asst cleaning items, slings, ammo pouch, tools, etc.

Will probably ad an M39 & others if the price is right. I didn't pay over $50 for any one of these. I don't mind a few dings, but if an unissued or excellent example comes along, I'm interested.

I like 'em all & only want more as time goes on.

I like the history behind 91/30's. As long as I don't get too carried away, the pricing is within range of this (comrade) common man, too. ok> Considering the trillions made, they will probably be reasonable for a while longer.

Currently a M44, previously a M91. If I saw one at a reasonable price, I'd jump on a Finn M39.
