[attachmentid=5351][attachmentid=5352]You can get an M1 for $200. It is no bargain. You can get an M1

for $1000. It might be a bargain.

A "review of the literature" and some information from the CMP is

suggested. Generally, it is wise to avoid the civilian cast-receivered

rifles.

Jim Thompson! I read a few of your posts on the M1 and just realized - I have your excellent book on the weapon! I've referred to it more than a few times when answering questions on the Garand (IIRC, with credit given to the source of the info). It's also been a great help when I had a question about my own Springfield late-war specimen.

And he's practically written a book with his posts on the forum in the last few days!

I've been blown away by the scope and volume of information in his posts so far.

Glad to have you aboard Jim, and I hope you stick around! ok.gif

Maybe but there'll be a lot less ...'s.

I joined his Yahoo group to review and comment on his latest book about the guns of WWII. All you WWII fans should do the same.

Hey! I get bored, and drinking beer ALL the time is (burp!)

awkward and difficult.

Really, I try to plan a trip to the local range every weekend,

and when things get screwed up and I can't get there, this is how

I get my "firearms fix".

NOTE: plentiful periods added for purposes of any ongoing statistical

trivia contests.

Now, I do ACTUALLY live across the street from a brewery...

Had to shut down the group. It was eating up my time.

Sorry. But 20 hours a week is a lot, and I needed some pretty

specific feedback from readers and viewers, and it just didn't

work.

Ditto. If you do order from the CMP, you can specify you want one from WWII (or so I have been told).

I did it again. Seriously? 2004?

Things have kind of . . . died down a little here in recent months.
