A question:

Is it possible to convert a civilian Kalashnikov that takes only low-capacity magazines (less than 10 rounds) to instead take high-capacity magazines (20+rounds). I imagine this would involve widening the magazine well to accomodate the thicker, high-capacity magazine, but what else needs to be done?

Are there any websites that discuss the process in depth?

Is doing this legal? Do you have to fill out any papers or notify the ATF?

And as a side question, do you have to have some kind of license to build a gun from scratch?

Thanks.

i've seen a few sites that show how to widen the mag well of an AK to take full sized mags but i dont know any off hand

i dont see what would be illegal about it, since the AWban is over.

lastly, if you build a weapon from an 80% reciever or scratch, you dont need a license as long as it's for personal use and you never sell it. machine guns, short barreled rifles, etc. follow different rules though.

Yea you can do that BUT you have to put 5 US parts in it to keep it legal.

is it a wasr-10? because the wasr-10 high capacities start out as wasr-10 low caps then are widened at Century Arms, so there isn't anything illegal about it, UNLESS YOU LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE IT IS!!!!!

Hey guys! I was wondering the same thing. I just got a low-cap wasr-10 by century and wanted to make it accept high-cap mags. Is all that is required to do this just widening the mag well. Thanks for any help.

Just put a G2 trigger group in. It's, like, six parts.

Why, they are mported in the high cap configuration, you only need to worry about 922r for versions that are "unsporting"

if i am off, pleasa correct me
